Nike Free is currently a bestseller for Nike, considering that the shoe is the reason barefoot running has become a conventional concept. Today, the Nike Free is regarded as an equally athletic and fashionable shoe, rather than footwear exclusive for runners.It was Eric Avar, Nike current creative director, and Tobie Hatfield, Tinker Hatfield younger brother, who originally designed the Nike Free so that rubbers would have a more flexible shoe. They drew inspiration from athletes that were running and training barefoot on the golf course of Stanford University.Back at Nike campus, they conducted a study by taping the pressure-measuring insoles to the feet of a group of men and women. They used high speed cameras to capture data while studying the foot in motion. The extensive study lasted for 8 years, helping them understand what a 渘aturallanding stride is like, which prompted Nike to introduce a new running shoe.
