The origin of the Reebok brand can be traced back to 1958 when J. W. Foster grandsons founded a new company as a branch to their grandfather company. The name Reebok comes from 渞hebok,which happens to be a graceful and fast South African antelope, serving as a perfect representation of the brand. After success in the United Kingdom, the Reebok brand was launched in the United States because of the customization and high quality of their shoes.In the early 1980, Reebok made a surprising move by introducing the first women athletic shoe. In 1989, Reebok targeted the world of basketball sneakers by introducing the Pump. They designed the sneakers specifically to be worn on the court. The shoe was equipped with an air bladder and its tongue featured a small pump to inflate the bladder, which ensured a tighter fit around the ankle.
