Marvel had to bargain heavily to ensure that the Marvel Cinematic Universe could include Ego the Living Planet and Spider-Man. However, it probably will not be anytime soon the franchise will also be able to welcome Marvel comics characters like Dr. Doom, the rights to whom currently belong to 20th Century Fox. According to Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, they will not be able to use characters from the Fantastic Four or the X-Men in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films. At least Nike does not have to worry about copyright infringement since it has drawn inspiration from the Fantastic Four, including a Dr. Doom-themed Air Foamposite Pro.Kevin recently also claimed that it is unlikely that 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios would end up striking a bigger partnership. For those who do not read comics, in the current Marvel NOW!lineup, the role of Iron Man has been taken on by Dr. Doom, who is usually the arch nemesis of the Fantastic Four.
